Mescells and Bach Mai Hospital Sign Cooperation Agreement in Line with the Government’s Resolution on Improving Public Health

Pursuant to Government Resolution No. 282/NQ-CP promulgating the Government’s Action Program to implement Politburo Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW on a number of breakthrough solutions to strengthen the protection, care and improvement of the people’s health.

In the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Health, other ministries and agencies, experts and the press, Mescells | MSC and Bach Mai Hospital officially signed a cooperation agreement to carry out the task of deploying the strategic technology of research into and application of mesenchymal stem cells in clinical treatment.

Gene therapy and stem cells form one of the six key development pillars of Bach Mai Hospital for 2025-2030, which have been approved and are being actively implemented. In line with this direction, the Hospital is actively rolling out related programs, and today’s cooperation with Mescells | MSC is expected to add momentum and help advance this pillar step by step.

The two organizations will together promote research into and application of mesenchymal stem cells, gradually developing regenerative medicine products and solutions that are safe, effective, compliant with the law and reasonably priced. The key areas of cooperation include:

  • Cooperation in scientific research and product development
  • Cooperation in training and human resource development
  • Application and development of professional and technical expertise
  • Sharing resources and developing the ecosystem

At the event, Dr. Nguyen Ngo Quang, Director General of the Department of Science, Technology and Training, Ministry of Health, offered his congratulations and commended the direction of cooperation between Bach Mai Hospital and the Mescells | MSC Healthcare System.

Director General Quang instructed the two sides to complete the dossier and research protocol promptly for submission to the Ministry of Health for approval. He also said that the Ministry of Health guides and encourages Bach Mai Hospital to cooperate on clinical trials of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells in the prevention and control of rejection after organ transplantation, and in the treatment of cirrhosis and musculoskeletal diseases. The Department of Science, Technology and Training stands ready to support and facilitate once the dossier meets requirements, with a view to initial results being reported at the end of 2026 or in early 2027.

“The ultimate value of research lies not only in a scientific result, but in the ability to bring that result to patients.” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of the Mescells | MSC Healthcare System, at the signing ceremony.

At the event, she also said that cooperation with Bach Mai Hospital connects the clinical capacity of a last-line hospital with technological and research capacity in the field of cell technology, working together towards practical value for patients and the development of Vietnamese medicine.

Mescells | MSC takes a particular interest in research into and application of cell technology in liver diseases, especially cirrhosis – an area that is opening up new approaches in regenerative medicine. The two sides aim not only at research and trials but also at gradually transferring techniques, building capacity and bringing cell technology techniques, processes and products into clinical use once all scientific, safety and legal requirements are met.
